Overview
Jeep Commander derives from a couple of unique traditions - it was the first ever SUV, a distinction that occupies a pride of place in the annals of its history. Then, it is a vehicle that was singularly built for the army; yet, it made a smooth transition into being a civilian vehicle. The Commander comes with another distinctive trait of being the first ever Jeep with three rows of seats. Lasting legacies such as these combine with its famous off-road performance ability to make this a commanding performer on the road. The 2010 Jeep Commander is available in two trims - sport and Limited - in 4x2 and 4x2 configurations.
Power and performance
The Commander derives power from the choice of a V-6 or V-8 engines. The Sport features a 210-hp 3.7-liter V-6, while the Limited is powered by a 5.7-liter V-8 Hemi (optional on Sport). A five-speed automatic transmission is standard on all Commanders, with two-wheel drive or one of a range of four-wheel drive systems.
